The Beauty of Christian Sexuality - English - Session III & IV

This workshop seeks to explore the beauty and goodness of Sex in the context of God’s providential plan, and to understand the very nature of this powerful drive within each and every one of us. God has created us all creatures of love: to love and to be loved. As creatures who have been created in love, we can only have offsprings of love. Hence, the power to procreate via human sexuality. God is truly good and has created me for goodness and eternal happiness. How does the teaching of Christ help me to see sexuality in a different light than what is presented to me by the mass media? What are some helpful things that are within my control that I can do to lessen the effects of the temptations that has me surrounded? How can lust be detrimental to the virtue of love that is necessary in keeping a stable and lasting marital relationship?

Peer Pressure - Bilingual - Session IV

Didn’t Adam fall to peer pressure in the Garden of Eden? Didn’t Aaron give in to peer pressure and made a golden cow? Didn’t Peter deny his Master three times under peer pressure? Didn’t Pontius Pilate allow an innocent man to die due to peer pressure? How many drug addicts, alcoholics, robbers, liars in this world are made by peer pressure? The power of peer pressure is strong and real and those who want to be bearers of Christ must know how to deal with it.

"Catholic Approach to the Understanding of the Bible" - English - Session I

Did we all come from one Adam and one Eve? Did Adam and Eve have belly buttons, or how many rib bones did Adam live with after God created Eve? How about the creation story in 6 days and all that? Then what's the deal with intelligent design and evolution? More recently, people went crazy about the Gospel of Judas, the Gospel of Mary Magdalene, and that Constantine put the books of the Bible together with a political agenda in mind. What is the Catholic take on all these?

Finding A Purpose And Meeting Challenges In Life - Bilingual - Session I

We often perceive our lives as a dash through individual moments and events, experiencing along the way love, hate, sadness, happiness, fulfillment and emptiness. Is our life's course set upon a purpose that gives meaning to these individual experiences, or are we simply reacting to the "next thing" that comes our way?

Our world is filled with challenges. Current debates on social issues such as pro-life vs pro-choice, euthanasia, war, etc, often cause confusion as arguments from both sides seem to make sense at times. Where is the correct path?

In this bilingual multi-media presentation, we share with you one perspective on finding the purpose of your life - experiencing God's presence as the connection in the individual experiences of our lives. We will explore basic moral principles that provide a basis for responsible discussion of current social issues.

This workshop will encourage you to, perhaps just a little, take the time to discover the meaning in your life and to believe and behold its value in God’s hands at any challenges. It may take a lifetime to experience the true meaning but your life will be enriched by simply starting the search.

Catholics and Politics - Bilingual - Session II Trustee Lân Quốc Nguyễn, Assemblyman Văn Thái Trần, Trustee KimOanh Nguyễn-Lâm

Catholics today face a whole array of political issues which directly confront the Church’s teachings, such as same sex marriage, school prayer, abortion, death penalty, sex education, mercy killing or religious freedom in Vietnam. Whether we like politics or not, these political issues would greatly affect our lives.

The Catholic youth are often referred to as the future of the Church, but we often do not understand how these issues currently affect our lives or the Church. Worse, some of us may misunderstand these issues which may be disguised under some noble concepts. It’s time for Catholic youths to confront these issues, take an appropriate stand, or speak on behalf of the Church which as religious institutions, often can not legally do.

A panel of three Vietnamese American elected officials will share their experiences as Catholics in mainstream politics. They may have different political affiliations or philosophies, but they share the same call to stand up to the plate to tackle these political issues head-on.

Transfixed or Transfigured? Discovering Faithful Frames instead of Kodak Moments - English - Session III

The spirituality of young adults requires a photographer’s eye, a certain “light” sensitivity that recognizes God in Starbucks and cell phones as well as in prayer groups and Mass. This workshop describes a wakefulness that allows us to be “on location” with our daily lives when transformation is afoot. Starting with the transfiguration story, participants will explore ways to reframe their own personal hunger for both community and individuality so that they are transfigured by Christ instead of transfixed by their iPods.
