Office of Secretary of the Bishopric of Vinh reports urgently that:

In the morning of July 20, 2009, as parishioners of Tam Toa parish setting up a makeshift church on the ground of the old, collapsed Tam Toa church in the city of Dong Hoi, Quang Binh, hundreds of police officers showed up to prevent their works from being continued. They did so by kicking, and beating them brutally. Numerous of parishioners were thrown into police trucks and taken away. Among them at least 20 were beaten cruelly before being thrown into police vehicles and jailed.

The Bishopric of Vinh asks Catholics and all people of conscience to pray for the safety of parishioners of Tam Toa parish, especially those who were beaten up brutally and jailed by police of Quang Binh province.
